The Department of Sciences, Nature Club, and IQAC jointly organized an Environmental Awareness Programme on 8th October 2026 in the Seminar Hall.

The guest speaker was Sri. T. C. Devanath, a devoted environmentalist from Hunsur, who delivered an insightful talk on the theme “Nature at the Brink of Destruction and the Steps Needed to Prevent It.” His interactive session highlighted the urgent need for conservation and inspired students to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives.

The students greatly benefitted from the discussion, gaining awareness about environmental challenges and the importance of collective responsibility in safeguarding nature.

The Inaugural Program of the Science Association for the academic year 2026–27 was held on 1st September 2026 at Cauvery College, Gonikoppal.

The program was presided over by Dr. M. B. Kaveriappa, Principal, Cauvery College, Gonikoppal. The Chief Guest was Dr. A. B. Naresh, Retired Principal, Cauvery College, Gonikoppal, who inaugurated the ceremony by lighting the lamp. The Guests of Honour included Prof. M. S. Bharathy, Vice Principal, and Dr. Nayana Thammaiah, IQAC Coordinator.

In his inaugural address, Dr. Naresh emphasized that students should cultivate a scientific attitude, critical thinking, and research interest. He urged them to expand their knowledge base by reading widely and contribute meaningfully to society.

Prof. M. S. Bharathy, in her presidential remarks, highlighted that science is not merely about learning established facts but is a continuous process of questioning and discovery. She encouraged students to use creativity and intelligence to pursue research that benefits society.

On this occasion, students Dayana Machaiah and Aafia Sharif, who achieved academic excellence in the Science Department during 2025–26, were felicitated. Prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions.

The inaugural ceremony marked the formal commencement of the Association’s activities for the year, inspiring students to actively engage in scientific inquiry, creativity, and collaborative learning.

The Freshers’ Day 2026 was celebrated on 14th August 2026 at Cauvery College, Gonikoppal, to welcome the new batch of B.Sc. students. The program was presided over by Dr. M. B. Kaveriappa, Principal, and graced by Prof. M. S. Bharathy, Vice Principal.

The event began with an invocation, followed by a warm welcome extended to the freshers by the senior students. The program included introductory sessions, motivational addresses, and cultural performances that reflected the vibrant spirit of the college community.

In his presidential remarks, Dr. Kaveriappa emphasized the importance of discipline, dedication, and scientific inquiry, encouraging the freshers to make the most of the opportunities provided by the institution. Prof. Bharathy, in her address, highlighted the supportive environment of Cauvery College and urged the students to uphold values of creativity, collaboration, and academic excellence.

The Science Association of Cauvery College, Gonikoppal, under the guidance of the IQAC, organized the Valedictory Ceremony for the academic year 2025–26, combined with the Farewell for the outgoing III B.Sc. students, on 20th May 2026 in the Seminar Hall.

The event was coordinated by Dr. Abishek N. S., Convenor of the Science Association along with the faculties of sciences, and hosted by the I and II B.Sc. students, who brought youthful energy and warmth to the occasion.

The ceremony commenced with an invocation, followed by a welcome address and a reflection on the year’s activities of the Science Association. The annual report highlighted the Association’s initiatives, including academic talks, workshops, and student-led events that fostered scientific curiosity and collaboration.

The farewell segment honoured the graduating students of III B.Sc., acknowledging their contributions to the Association and the college community. Faculty members shared heartfelt messages, while juniors expressed gratitude and admiration for their seniors. The atmosphere was enriched with cultural performances, nostalgic reflections, and words of encouragement for the students stepping into new horizons.

Mrs. M. S. Bharathy, Vice Principal, graced the occasion and delivered an inspiring address. In her speech, she appreciated the efforts of the Science Association in fostering scientific temper and creativity among students. She encouraged the outgoing batch to carry forward the values of discipline, dedication, and innovation into their future endeavours, while reminding the juniors to uphold the legacy of excellence.

The Science Association and Nature Club, under the guidance of the IQAC, organized the first session of the special lecture series Lanterns of Learning – Cauverian Science Talks on 13th March 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Seminar Hall of Cauvery College, Gonikoppal.

The program was presided over by Dr. M. B. Kaveriappa, Principal of Cauvery College, Gonikoppal. The distinguished speaker was Dr. Girish Chandran, Assistant Professor and Coordinator of Biochemistry, Mahajana Post Graduate Center, Mysuru, who delivered a lecture on “Sanjeevini – Rediscovery of the Mythical Plant.” The session was hosted by Mrs. Shashikala B.S., Head of the Department of Botany, and organized by Dr. Abishek N. S., Convenor of the Science Association.

The inaugural ceremony featured invocation, welcome address, introduction of the speaker, the special lecture, interactive discussion, presentation of mementos, presidential remarks, and vote of thanks.

The lecture by Dr. Girish Chandran captivated the audience by blending mythology with modern scientific inquiry, focusing on the rediscovery and relevance of Sanjeevini, a plant of legendary significance. The talk emphasized the importance of integrating traditional knowledge with contemporary research, inspiring students to explore science beyond textbooks. The interactive session encouraged questions and reflections, making the event both informative and thought-provoking.

Faculty members, Heads of Departments, students, and the management graced the occasion with their presence. The event marked the beginning of the Lanterns of Learning series, dedicated to “Illuminating Ideas, Shaping Future Generation,” and inspired participants to integrate traditional knowledge with modern scientific inquiry.

The Science Association, Nature Club, and IQAC jointly organized the National Science Day Celebration on 28th February 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Seminar Hall of Cauvery College, Gonikoppal.

The program was presided over by Mrs. M. S. Bharathy, Vice Principal, in the absence of Principal Dr. M. B. Kaveriappa. The Chief Guest was Dr. Bhavani K. M., Retired Principal, Ponnampet.

The celebration featured invocation and prayer song, welcome address, and the Chief Guest’s address by Dr. Bhavani K. M. on the theme “Women in Science: Catalyzing Viksith Bharath.” The program also included prize distribution for competitions held from 25th–27th February 2026, cultural performances showcasing student talent, presidential remarks by Mrs. M. S. Bharathy, and vote of thanks.

The event marked the observance of National Science Day 2026, inspiring students to recognize the contributions of science and encouraging active participation in scientific and cultural initiatives.

The inaugural ceremony featured invocation, watering of the plant, welcome address, briefing about the Science Association, introduction and address by the Chief Guest, Launch of association logo, prize distribution, presentation of mementos, presidential remarks, and vote of thanks.

The event provided an engaging platform for healthy interaction between senior and junior students, fostering team spirit, camaraderie, and mutual understanding. The matches were conducted in a lively and inclusive atmosphere, contributing to the overall vibrancy of campus life.

The Fresher’s Day program for the I B.Sc. students was held on 21st August 2025. The formal function took place during the morning session, presided over by the Vice Principal, Asst. Prof. Mrs. Bharathi M. S. The event marked a warm welcome to the new batch and highlighted the college’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and student engagement.

In the afternoon session, a series of interactive games and activities were organized by senior students, promoting camaraderie and helping the freshers ease into the campus environment. The day concluded on a cheerful note, setting a positive tone for the academic journey ahead.

The orientation program for the newly admitted I B.Sc. students was successfully conducted on 21st July 2025. The session aimed to familiarize students with the structure and expectations of the B.Sc. curriculum, encompassing the disciplines of Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.

Following the introductory briefing, students were guided through the respective departmental laboratories, where faculty members provided insights into the facilities, equipment, and academic activities. Additionally, students were taken to the college library and information center, where they were encouraged to make optimal use of the available resources and adhere to proper library etiquette.

The program served as a foundational step in welcoming students into the academic environment and instilling a sense of responsibility and curiosity towards their chosen fields of study.
